I go to a (fun) evening class and next year all the funding is changing It used to work that certain groups of people got money off the fees (unfortunatly not me as I work). Now it has come about that some of these groups have been replaced with other groups IE Incapacity benifit and Disabled Living allowance have been removed (making it that some people who have been going for a long time will have to stop as they can't afford it) and Refugee and asylum Seeker added and that the people on the list get the class free.
would it not be fairer if everone short of money got a %age off.
Have you had any similar experiences.

I think that the government have strange rules in general and I don't understand all of them.

I think that the reason they have added Refugees and Asylum seekers to the list to get classes free is because if they are expected to pay, there will be loads more people sitting on benefits without the money to get skills to find a job.
At the end you will pay more taxes if there are more people on benefits.

I know that you said it's a fun class, but even being a fun class, you learn some skills.

The inequality seems to be between those with needs around disibilty and the rest, not black and white. What about a white refugee from Russia and a black wheelchair user or person with learning difficulties?. Honestly think about it before you get all facist .

You are very right though to highlight the difficluties currently experinced by those on DLA etc, day centre access etc is being removed for many many citizens, white and black and we should all be together in opposing this, not diverting the issue to race and asylum like the government spun media wants us to.

Oh and Shane, I went to disney land but that dont make me Mickey Mouse. I AM white european, hey we even look the same judging from our avatar, but i dont need to make a song and dance about it and automatically see myself in some kind of unbreakable cultural bond with you that sets us apart from all others. n'est pas?

I think rates should be based on one's ability to pay. Trouble is you can't trust someone who blows most of their paycheck on fags and at the pub to be honest as to why they are broke. Same goes with people who have housing given to them, but they have Sky +, always go on holiday and never miss a weekend out getting thoroughly pissed. There is a growing problem that the big dogs at the top need to figure out.
People (of ALL races, religon, backgrounds, and countries) have mastered working the system. Thats why they never get caught and we the taxpayer end up paying for everything, while they laugh into the latest brand spanking new mobile phone.

Somethings got to give. If you work hard, pay your bills, and live "right".....you seem to be penalized every which way you turn.

I feel for you. I do hope you find the extra cash to keep attending your class. Sounds like its really important to you. Try and keep site of that instead of the unfairness of it all.

I totally sympathise. Do you sometimes feel like the government are robbing the poor to give to the not so poor? I haven't had a similar experience but I'm fed up having to be ashamed of being "English". I'm fed up with having to scrimp and scrape every month (yes I know I'm lucky to have a roof over my head but it's bloody hard work! and if my hubby didn't have to pay so much tax to fund these things and these immigrants we wouldn't have the constant worry of having to cope). I could rant forever but I won't as we've heard it all before but yes I do feel ethnically challenged! It's about time we all stuck up for our rights and stop this PC madness.

I have come to feel that as an Englishman I am discriminated against in what used to be my own country. I find so many nationalities here claiming everything in sight, and complaining that it is not enough, that I would like them ALL to leave. Perhaps if we scrapped the whole of the benefit system it would induce them to go elsewhere. That would free up housing and jobs, take the strain off schools, hospitals, roads, reduce taxation, reduce crime and enable us to reintroduce respect and tolerance.

Its possible to be a white refugee i guess. I think it would be fairer that everyone poor got it cheap esp if the classes are for work skills and qualifications.

Hmmm no but on a different view. White people have lost thier heritage in the usa. So for you to get in touch with your roots, and see that white people really have culture. You should drop by europe. Because they still have cultue. And you will feel really good to see that we actually do have it.

It seems in the quest to be PC a positive bias is given to ethnics, the indigenous white English are lepers in their own land. It can't go on like this and the flash point is rapidly coming.
