What exactly do you trust them to do, or what can you rely upon them to do?

How much faith do you place in your elected representatives to perform their responsibilities on behalf of the nation and your best interest?

I'm looking for honest answers, but since it's almost the weekend, I can appreciate humor if you've got it.

I also didn't specifically ask about current events or current politicians. Have you ever trusted the American government? Could you ever?

I trust the federal government least of all, then my state government. I have a little trust in local government. I can see them at the grocery store and our kids can attend the same schools. They seem to be more accountable.
Too many national politicians have no interest to those they serve but are indebted to those that financed their elections. If we took the money out of politics we would probably get a more honest government.

First off the role of politician was never meant to be a full time career. Though now that it is, I expect them to work for the people they represent. I don't trust them with my money, and only wish to rely on them to protect our great land. Any thing else, the government has no buisness having it's hands in. Our government only has the power that we the people say it has. Government is not the people, it is seperate. It is a work force for the people to get things done through.

As of right now I have near no faith in out representives. I believe in the words of Thomas Jefferson when he said, "To preserve democracy, a revolution every 25 years is needed."

With each passing decade the government becomes more corrupt, less Constitutional. However, I still try very hard in contacting the members of the government through letters and e-mail and also petitions. Hoping that someone out there still cares to listen to the average American citizen. Every once in awhile I do recieve a comment back that seems honest and sincere, while many others in government just ignore me or shove me off with a quick "Thanks for sharing your concerns with me, but..................." That can get old.

I've always trusted the American government. It may not be amazingly efficient, but it's a bureaucracy so what can you expect?
What's not to trust? Oh, wait, President Bush acted on incorrect intelligence, used it to justify Iraq, but wait, that was just something incorrect! Why would that make you not trust the government, it was a mistake!

To be perfectly honest, I don't trust my government at all. I believe that this country was founded on a very beautiful idea that has unfortunately become corrupt by greed and power. I know there are good people out there that want to do good, but with all of the funding the corrupt pieces of our government get from big companies etc, it makes it hard for them to be in office.

I relatively do no longer have faith the yankee government. u.s. substitute into based on the thought of distrust in government. till now the yankee Revolution, the ruling British abused their ability via taxing us heavily and removing our rights. regrettably, the yankee government is doing those comparable issues on the instant. In end, the government might desire to worry the human beings, no longer any incorrect way around. as a great way using fact the killings of JFK and Bobby pass, it particularly is particularly inferred that the assassins have been political enemies. although, this would not be certain that the two or the two have been communist conspiracies. relatively, Bobby's murderer substitute into strongly anti-Zionist and that i infrequently have faith that this adventure had something to do with the communist conspiracy. For Kennedy, I easily have no theory. i think of the Vietnam conflict substitute into finished incorrectly. We forcibly put in a dictatorship in South Vietnam that substitute into the two oppressive using fact the communist government interior the North. while it got here time to combat, we enable the politicians administration the conflict, no longer the protection rigidity. for this reason, we suffered a humiliating loss. Later in the time of the chilly conflict, we supported the Taliban in Afghanistan in accordance with Soviet aggression there. there have been different international locations inclusive of Nicaragua we used as pawns to end the unfold of communism. inspite of the reality that we are a representative republic, i do no longer think of that the government has our superb pastimes in techniques. in my view, many if no longer maximum politicians carry place of work in pursuit of ability. They rig the gadget so as that they are consistently reelected with great margins till offender convictions rigidity them out of place of work (ex. Ted Stevens of Alaska). They limit our very own freedoms and consequently boost the region of government into our lives. I tremendously doubt that our society will prosper maximum under a good government. purely seem on the former Soviet Union or North Korea. in the event that they actually had our superb pastimes at coronary heart, they could paintings to shrink the size of government and furnish us greater administration over our very own lives.

We may not trust some people in our government, but we trust the system.
Whatever people abroad say, we still have the best system. It's not perfect, but it's the best there is.
if it was not the truth, then we would not have millions of people trying to get here and nobody leaving.

since the ones causing all the problems are people I never would have voted for, I can only keep voting and educating all the folks I can with the truth. I do not trust my government much right now after this amnesty debacle. Now they will have to show me they can be trusted. If they were my employee, I would have them on probation right now and they would get 30 days to redeem themselves or be fired.

I do not trust the our government as far as I can throw them. This government is no longer for the people, by the people. It is now for the Elite, by the elite...and for special interests by special interests....for big business, by big business, etc!

suthrnlyts2004, is one of the few conservatives I actually like on this forum. I agree with her on some things, and even when I don't agree with her, she is intelligent and thoughtful in her responses. This is one of those questions I agree with her about! *sm*

I trust them as much as I do a great white shark .
The only purpose of a great white is to scavenge the ocean for food and to reproduce itself and survive off everything around it .
It will eat its own kind and think nothing of it . If you become injured you are done for .
It can taste blood in the water from great distances and seeks out the injured .
It devourers and consumes everything it comes in contact with .
