Do you give money to homeless people?

Or do you think that they should try harder?

No I'm not retarded you idiot, I know that the majority of homeless people do have medical conditions as well as some type of mental illness. But there are just the run of the mill homeless guys that are hard on their luck and able minded/bodied that you automatically know CAN work.

For the record, I always do when I can, any change I have not because you always want to help, but if I was out there I would hope that someone would a heart would toss me a couple of cents.

The homeless I see with signs while I'm at an intersection, I don't give for safety reasons. There are times when one comes up to me and asks, that's when I do. We really can't judge them since we don't know what they've been through. Some people think they use the money for drugs or alcohol rather than food but all you can think of is you've done a good deed regardless of what they will use it for.

No. I make donations to personal charities that I think will use
the little I have in a worthwhile way. When I was small my
family passed a drunken man in Skid row. He said to my Dad
Hey there Rev. can you spare a quarter I have not had food in
a few days. I happily began to pull out a quarter for the man,as
did my brothers. My Dad gave us the eye." Lets go into this
restaurant he said, and I will pay for a meal for you" The man
began cursing and moved away. My Dad Explained that he
only wanted the money for more alcohol to add to his problem
From that day untill this I have never donated on the street.

I will never give money to a homeless person for one reason. Most are homeless due to a bad habit like drugs or alcohol addiction and the others they aren't trying hard enough.but there is a certain group like New Orleans and life tragedies that i would offer to help. If you really want to help them and to see if they are really in trouble, when they ask you for money tell them i will not give you money but ill buy you some food and that's that. if you give them things they might sell it to get their booze and drugs. I suggest feed them find them a place to stay but never give money let them earn it instead of sitting in one corner asking for change while everyone else is working 40+ hours a week to make a good life for themselves.

Sometimes I do. I am not a mind reader so I don't know if they are really going through something major or are they just looking for money for a quick fix. I don't want to be an enabler but I also don't want to turn my back on someone who really does need help.

No. They aren't starving. If you want to see starving people, go to parts of Africa where the belly is rounded and the rest of the body is literally just bones. Homeless know where to find food. The majority just need money for alcohol and/or cigs.

if u have mental problems thanyou get money from the gov't....most ppl who are homeless choose to be that way...it's their job to beg and collect cans....they probably work more hours than most ppl.

I have no problem giving money to some bums, but mainly to the ones that provide a service to me, like holding open a door, or scoring drugs for me....etc

I think that if you have the ability to stand at a stoplight for 8-10 hours a day, then you can do the same at a job.

I especially hate the ones that have a dog with them. If you're struggling to make it, then isn't it gonna be harder with a second mouth to feed?

hell no. sorry i cant stand all these bums that REFUSE to work. i live in a town with a **** ton of bums everywhere. i stop anywhere in town i get hit up for money. and these people very easily walked up to me and asked. they spend all day walking back in forth asking for my money. so no i dont give money to the bums. they can join the army or something along those lines. there are too many options for them and they piss on it cuz they are too lazy. they can go out and get a life

Yes, anytime I can because, if I were in the same situation, I'd want someone to help me out. The person doesn't have to even give me money, they could just buy me something to eat because I can't eat money!

I usually don't because I never carry any cash or change with me. My boyfriend, however, usually gives a few dollars.
