Constipation is defined by not having a BM or straining to pass one that is just like little pebbles or not passing one at all. Some kids just go once a day and it's normal for them, and that could change next week. Babies' bowel habits change frequently in the first year of life. That said, since from the way you describe, she is having one large one daily. That's not constipation at this stage.
You can buy a product over the counter in pretty much any pharmacy called Mylicon. She can have one dropper up to three times a day with feedings. BUT, you also need to make sure that the opening in the nipple of the bottle isn't too big or too small. If it's too big, the baby gulps the formula and swallows air with it. Too small, and since it's such hard work to suck, your baby is swallowing more air than anything else, and what goes in, has got to come out somehow.
If this doesn't help, speak to the doctor about changing formulas. Don't be in rush to do it without their advice though. Tiny tummies get confused easily and you don't want to stress it by changing at will.
A couple of people here said to give her water or juice. That's not necessary at this stage. If constipation becomes a chronic issue, then your doctor will direct you to. Otherwise, healthy infants get ALL their fluid and nutritional needs met by formula or breastmilk, and giving water or juice just fills their tummy and keeps them from wanting their regular feedings.

Gas can be caused by many things. She could be drinking too fast or the bottle may not be in the right position. If she's a fast drinker you need to stop her about half way through and burp her, then burp her again when she's done. There are many ways to burp a baby so keep trying different positions until you find one that works best for her. I agree that you need to talk to her Dr. about the formula she is on and whether you should use gas drops for infants. You will get a lot of advice from many people, but trust your Dr. The bowl movements are ok, once a day is better than nothing. If it is pain full when it passes, it is hard, or there is blood in the stool call the Dr. immediately. You may need to give her small amounts of water throughout the day to soften it.
Congratulations on the new baby!!

I know it sounds like a generic answer, but speak with your pediatrician. I went through this with my son. I was convinced he had some sort of blockage! Turns out it's perfectly normal for an infant to go 4 or 5 days without having a BM.
He was also very gassy and changing formula didn't help with that. Try some Mylicon drops. I didn't find them very effective but it may help your daughter. Be sure to ask about collic. It causes a lot of gas but unfortunatly there is little you can do to help. Their little systems are so new and it's so hard to know what's going on with them!
Best of luck and congratulations!

I changed from Enfamil to Enfamil Gentlease. My baby is 5 months now. He was the same way. I also have a five year old that was on Enfamil with no problems. I changed my 5 month old to the Gentlease when he was two months. He was constantly passing gas and crying all the time. The Gentlease did the trick.

They make these gas drops for babies.I had to do it with my son when he was that young. They are over the counter. Mylcone I think makes them and they work great. You can give them anytime. On the other note try a different formula when we had this problem our doctor told us to try soy forulma and it helped so much it took 2-3 days and you could totally tell a difference.

hi my son is 3 weeks and i had the same problems, i just started him on enfamil gentlease formula for gassy, fussy babies, and its only been 2 days but i can already tell a difference. good luck!! oh and in response to someones advice on giving water, you should not give a baby that young anything but formula or breastmilk, they get all the water they need from the formula or breastmilk

Have you tried getting the formula for 'gassy' babies? I'd try that. I know it sucks to do this, but when my baby was that way the doctor had me try sticking a anal thermometer just half an inch into his bottom to help him some and boy did he poo! If you do that make sure to have a diaper under him though.

I learned with Enfamil is that it makes the child constipated, but you need to make sure you're giving your baby water too besides a lot of milk. A lot of milk and no water would make anybody constipated!
