Gallery Furniture. Today! HAHAHA!

Seriously, I would shop around, as you never know what deals you'll find. Also, check out http://houston.craigslist.org/fur/ as sometimes they have new furniture listed for great prices.

There are several little known tricks to great furniture cheap in Houston. The first rule will always be - walk in with cash at the end of the month. You can really bargain if you are paying cash - and the salespeople want to make their quota and/or seal that very last deal before the end of the month!

Where to go:
Ikea is fine - but I'm not thrilled w/ their quality. What you buy may not last long - but it's cheap and stylish. They do not bargain.
Hoffer Furniture on Westpark is a company that leases good quality furniture to offices and model homes. They have a back room where they sell the furniture that has been returned from a model home/office lease - and the furniture has hardly been touched - since it just sat in a model home!
Basset Furniture has a "garage sale" in their warehouse on the I-10 and Hwy 6 every so often. The furniture is usually customer returns or custom upulstered fabric furniture that was never picked-up/delivered. Just ask a salesperson to see the returns in the warehouse. They will bargain w/ cash - so they don't have to pay return freight to send the stuff back! The quality is great!
Finger and Star Furniture both have clearance centers - but know what the stuff cost's retail before you go there. The discounts vary and they try to get as much for their items as they can - be ready to walk out if they won't meet your price.
The Dump is great, too! Lots of selection - but many items are SUPER high-end furniture and are still pricey despite the very deep discount.

Also, there's a place on Fondren near Westheimer where they sell hotel furniture. It's like a liquidation place.
