Population Growth has slowed down and it has only just topped 6.5 billion people, though previous forecasts expected this sooner.

At 7:16 p.m. ET on Saturday, the population here on this good Earth hit 6.5 billion people, according to projections.
Along with this forecast, an analysis by the International Programs Center at the U.S. Census Bureau points to another factoid, Robert Bernstein of the Bureau's Public Information Center advised LiveScience. Mark this on your calendar: Some six years from now, on Oct. 18, 2012 at 4:36 p.m. ET, the Earth will be home to 7 billion folks.
So, at the moment we're somewhere inbetween 6.5 and 7 billions. The best guess is there are 6.6 billons of people live now.

Each year, about 90 million new people join the human race. This is roughly equivalent to adding three Canadas or another Mexico to the world annually, a rate of growth that will swell human numbers from today's 5.6 billion to about 8.5 billion by 2025.

Our earths population is constantly growing, and at a greater rate than one would imagine. Since 1999, the earths population has been over 6 billion. Currently, at this moment, the estimated population is 6.727 Billion.

about 6.6billion is right. they do say that the entire population of the earth would fit on the isle of man (a small patch of ground between England and Ireland for those from other lands). But housing and family services would be under great strain though.

I visited this nuclear power plant in Whales once and they've got this screen that shows you the number of people alive on Earth.
It's a bit weird when you see a jump of a few thousands and then a drop.
