I have acrylic nails but Im tired of the up-keep and money spending. What is a good way, besides waiting for them to fall off, to take them off?

I recommend to keep your nails strong and for them not to break off to just go to the salon and tell them to remove it for you. Its about 5-10 dollars but its worth it considering all the damage you might do doing it yourself. [You can rip of your whole natural nails entirely or worse, etc] It might be a little money but it will be worth it in the end.

Ok, I'm not completely sure about the ones you just glue on like Claire's and stuff. I got mine done at a salon, because I bit my nails and I was trying to find a way to stop. The Risks: Your nails will be VERY weak after wearing them for a while. You can bend them down =( I took mine off after 3 months in August 2007 and they're still like this. Now I need to apply a clear coat of polish everyday to strengthen them. Leave them on: I think you should leave them on for about a week, considering they are store bought. TO TAKE OFF: soak fingers in a bowl of nail polish remover. CAREFULLY pull off after about 10-20 minutes or so. If it still hurts, soak longer. Sometimes while you're doing something, they might just snap off. LOL, it didn't hurt me at all when I banged my hand against the wall and snapped 2 of them, but then again, mine were the real acrylics at a salon... My suggestion: Find the cheapest nail salon around. Cheapest, as in pricing. Ask for acrylic tips. Mine cost $25 to get on. Every 2 weeks, go back and ask for a fill. This is because your nails are growing underneath. That costs about $15. If a nail falls off, use Krazy Glue or something like that. If you don't want to spend too much money, just stick with Claire's for a week or two. Keep the acrylic tips (salon) on for no more than 1 month. You don't want to ruin your nails ^.^ GOOD LUCK!

You can soak them in nail polish - make sure the nail polish has acetone in it and then let them dissolve a little and get them off that way, or let them grow out for like two weeks and once they do, use a nail clipper and tweezers to clip the nail on the side and gently pry it off with the tweezers. Thats the way I do it all the time when I take mine off to get a new set on. Or, you can go to the nail salon where you get them done and you can pay like $10 for them to take them off for you... =) good luck!

Soak your fingernails in Acetone (found at Sally's Beauty Supply). Then the acryllic gets soft and gooey. I am very impatient so then i would start filing it off. But, the longer you soak the easier. just make SURE you dont file your natural nail. Ouch!

You will want to get 100% acetone and soak them for awhile. As they start to disintigrate, file away the acrylic. You will still have to pull them off some. Good Luck!

Acetone, but that stuff messes up your hands. Personally I have taken mine off plenty of times with a razor blade, but you have to be really careful. If anything go to the nail salon and have them taken off there. That's the safest and least painful way to get rid of your nails, but you'll miss them.

Soak them off with acetone. You can buy it at any drug store. It may take a little while, but it is easy & painless! Just pour the acetone in a bowl, put in a good movie and let your fingers soak in it until they melt off!
