They'll definitely die, but why not just freeze them? Dying from hypothermia is a lot less stressful on the mouse. Plus, if you're feeding these mice to a snake, chemicals from the extinguisher gas will probably harm or kill your snake.

That isn't humane...neither is freezing, drowning, etc. If you must euth at home, you can use dry ice like mentioned. However, you can't let it come in physical contact with the mouse. The vet is always the best option, but I know some will use a shot to the heart w/o gas first and that isn't humane either. The following links list acceptable and unacceptable methods.

Aside from freezing the most Humane way to kill a tame mouse is to grab the back of its head with one hand and the Base of the tail with the other and pull slowly in opposite directions, this will displace the Spine and kill the mouse it is fairly quick and im guessing fairly painless as i have never heard squeaking using this method.

This does work... sorta. A chunk of dry ice is cheaper and less messy. As it melts, the carbon dioxide is heavier than air and pushes the air out of the bucket.
