If this is a real friend, ask them to evaluate your talent. Take it like he/she means it, not as an insult. If your given a good evaluation, ask his/her advice about how to break into the business - maybe you'll get a reference to an agent. If your friend is in the field you want to pursue, ask if he/she can help you get a job.

If the answer is no, don't get upset about it, it maybe an attempt to keep your friendship separate from his/her career - possibly thinking you might place blame on him/her and abandon the friendship.

People in show business are often confronted with people who consider themselves to be on a friendship basis and are looking for handouts and hand ups. It must be disappointing and wearisome to not know who is your friend and who not to trust.

Good luck.

It is rare that you will succeed in show business without contacts. Those that are at the top rarely got there by just lucky breaks. They got there after hard networking and giving and receiving favors. You need to have the talent to start, but you almost always have to rely on someone in the biz to get you in the door.

i think it would be more worthwhile if you did it on ur own,
however, it's really hard to get into show business without an insider
that way, you can get more familiar with the whole idea, and maybe she could pull a few strings for you

anyone in the biz can at least help you get started with advice, and maybe introduce you to someone who can help you...

this is not a one-way street. those people whom you meet will be happy to have you, to help you be successful, if you can help them be more successful with what they do.

This may be a good start. And your friend may be your guide or manager. You can learn from him/her.
