No, I don't feel that I owe them anything. It should be an even trade, but very often the person trading labor for money gets the short end of the stick. This is not always the case, there are some who get paid far more than their labor is worth, but in far too many cases the worker is exploited. As for owing the nation anything, I also say no. Absolutely everything belongs to absolutely everyone, without exception, and everyone is entitled to their fair share. When 1% of the population controls 90% of the resources in this world, and have little regard for the needs of the other 99% of the population, then somethings really need to be changed. *sm*

The company pays me for my labor, they owe me for the labor performed, and I owe them good performance of the job I am paid for. If they feel I am not worth the money, I will be replaced with someone they feel will perform to their expectations. If I feel I am not being paid enough, I can find someone that will pay me enough.
Toward a family, it is a degree of responsibility, not a debt owed.
Toward a nation. Has it used what it has taken from my labors wisely? Am I being shot at, stolen from, are regulations holding me back, and is the infrastructure in disrepair? If so, they owe me. If I can prosper, then the nation is doing its’ job. If I am dependent on the nation, then thanks is owed for being caught in the safety net and the safety net should not be a permanent residence.

when i had a job, it was an agreement. i'll trade you 40 of my hours for X amount of dollars.
that was the meat and potatoes. as long as that agreement was functional, i worked to the best of my ability.
no bitching that i was working too hard, or too many hours, or the benefits sucked, or "the man" was keeping me down.....
i made my bed and slept in it.
i DO feel i owe my country. i did not make it, and am very happy it will have me. thankful too.
God bless the world.

No, I think of work as an economic transaction, money & benefits for skilled labor.
I have a definite sense of obligation to my family, and I accept the responsibilities of citizenship.

I don't think I understand your question? My company needs the product I create; I create it for them in exchange for a salary.
