Without any will, they become wards of the state. They are state property at that point and the state will decide what to do with them. could be an orphanage or foster home. Many possibilities. And they will pay the people to take care of them but continue to own them until they are of legal age.

I have grown kids 33 ,32,and 29 so one of them would inherit there little 4 year old brother and my 14 year old grand kids would help take care of there uncle.

Thankfully, our kids are old enough that they could most likely take care of themselves, but until recently, that was something that hubby and I had a realllllly difficult time deciding. Neither one of us really wanted any family members to take care of them (for various reasons), so we asked friends of ours.

I'd be surprised if anyone took them. They would probably need a psychiatric evaluation. We don't have any!
