I was browsing the Hobby questions and came across someone who said they were a "sample knitter for major companies" - I would LOVE to do that! Does anyone know how to get into that? Is it even a real job? I consider myself an advanced knitter, and I can knit up from a pattern without having to see what the finished product looks like. That would be my ideal job.... if anyone knows let me know!!

Here is one place to try - I have seen them advertise for sample knitters in the past. info@berroco.com

Here is a recent craigslist ad, I don't know if they will let you work by mail http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/etc/357415897.html

check with your local Michaels Arts and Crafts store... they hire people to teach knitting and crochet classes... I applied for a crochet one but haven't heard back yet... you get paid (a little) and you teach people something you love to do... I like that idea... I like to show people how to crochet... never occured to me that I might be able to make money doing it...

By the way the "samples" are usually only a 3x3 or 4x4 inch square of the different yarns in a regular knit stitch to show what the yarn looks like when knitted with.
