To cradle as a side base just remember to flick upwards not sweep the flyer's feet out from under a stunt. And keep your arms up there after the flick to catch and resist the flyer's weight.

Really it's not hugely different from catching as a back in that you are trying to keep your flyer safe. The big difference is in putting them up in the stunts. But don't worry. Your coach will teach you what to do :^)

Ok you really need arm strength so try push-ups and handstands. You squat down and you put your hands together in a cup shape and when the flyer jumps in your hands you use your legs and sponge, what that means is you bend down and with your arms lift them up at the same time as your body and make your hands in a hair pin shape or turn them opposite directions to hold the foot of the flyer. Basically you do the same thing over again lol. Nothing is different for a base. Just be sure to catch them, if they move a different spot when you throw them in the air you move also so you can catch them. Never Drop A Base.

As a backspot, you should have been paying attention to the other girls in stunts past. Backspots are usually the ones in charge of the pace of a stunt- they keep time by counting and watch the flyer so they can direct the bases to her. In my squad the backspotter was always the most senior of the squad group because of the level of trust needed.

The best thing you can do is to talk to other girls who are bases and get them to help you. You won't learn by me telling you to do things. You must see and feel it for yourself. I will say this though- a good base always lifts with the legs and not the arms, keeps in time with her base partner, and whose top concern is for the well-being of her flyer throughout the stunt.
