There is a definite pattern. The terms libs, commies, sissies, etc How is this viewed as political discourse? Rationality and evidence are the standard. Emotion and agression dont lead to a democratic society, but a totalitarian one. SO why the use of slande, slur and aggression? Dont come back with "cause democrats are idiots", you'll just prove my point.

They are angry people.
They also tend to be ignorant and child-like.
When they are losing an argument, they resort to insults.
Sometimes, they just start out with insults, because they know they will lose.
Things are not going well for them these days.

The right winged rhetoric got old 10 years ago and became stagnate. The worst thing that Conservatives fear are Alpha thinking Americans whether you are a Liberal or not. The Bush Administrations edits (800 Bush signing statements, Patriot Act, No Child Left Behind, Military Act, Bush veto's) to the Constitution and Bill of Rights confirms this argument. For some reason they really believe that forced control has some type of merit to their actions, when it is just partisan politics as usual. The right wing pattern you speak of would be the multiple account troll comments that all agree with each other to force their views.

They are morally, ethically and intellectually bankrupt, and have no better argument than patent ad hominem attacks. This is another way of saying that the right wing has lost the fight. Even the Republican Party is looking for ways out of this quagmire, and they should look to their roots: time to form a new party, one that is cohesive around the root values of Republicanism instead of parroting the Christian Coalition screed of abortion, evolution, devil worship and Democrats--they're all the same, evil Liberals. Once the Republicans realize that their party was hijacked during the Reagan years, America can get back on track and all will be good. Until then, the war for America's soul will continue.

Timothy
I believe it's because the very definition of "conservative" is to resist change, to not move forward, and therefore, to not be receptive to new ideas. The far right can't possibly conceive of anyone's thoughts but their own being "correct"...and since they tend to be stuck for answers, they employ insults as an alternative to actual thought.

Excuse me Blondey...as a member of the Vietnam generation, most of the guys I knew DID serve in Nam (unlike your president) annnnnnnd.....not ONE of them was "spit on". Keep your myths to your neocon little self.

Most conservatives down deep know they're wrong, but they aren't very intelligent, they are not willing to study to learn the truth, and they have a dishonest personality that prefers accepting propaganda as truth because that propaganda fits their beliefs.....

They are the worst our country has to offer. They have to be loud, distracting, keep up a smoke screen

otherwise they will be exposed. They hate and fear the truth

example...look how long they kept most of the people from knowing the truth about Iraq..."Support the troops" blah blah blah...intentionally done to keep the people from the truth so they could get away with it. Iraq is not the exception....

It's there MO

Insults and slander are much easier to do than actually finding a legitimate source which supports their opinion. They know Rush isn't a credible source, but he sounds so DARN clever. Problem is, by the time they run from the radio to Yahoo Answers, they forget all the points he made and can only remember the insults.

Ann Coulter has made it easier for them. Just keep yelling "F A G G O T" at everyone you dont agree with, this not only makes you seem as (un)intelligent as Coulter, but the slurs are a LOT easier to remember.

The more they behave this way, the easier it will be for Democrats to make history in 2008. Keep embracing your hate, people; It makes you weak and so distracted you wont even notice the election. Take a page from your Sunni brethren Republicans, and boycott the next national election.

Wow, Blondey and others have really just justified everything you have written. It is actually very sad, that the only people left defending the far right, are the ones who are not intelligent enough to come up with a dignified answer.

However, it is difficult to blame them, after all the conservative main stay is Fox News and the booming voice of Bill O'Reilly, a study found that he resorts to name calling on average every 6.8 seconds. Intelligent discussions have gone out the window. Instead the far right has reverted back to the lowest form of propaganda, constant name-calling to try to get people to associate liberal or democrat with the many names we have all heard mentioned.

Personally I do my best to not dignify these people with a response, because even I know they do not represent the republican party as a whole, but rather a small group of people with even smaller minds.

I'm not sure why aggression and name-calling has become the norm in "political discourse." I see it on all sides, though, not just from conservatives. I don't identify with any particular political party anymore because I'm so embarassed by a lot of the people representing them.

Why the right-wing aggression?

Ignorance.

I don't vote down party lines. I'm an independent thinker. I decide my answer to an issue after hearing the facts and looking at both sides of the issue.

I don't support war of any kind, never have, never will. I have never spit on a soldier.

There are immature elements chiming in on the fringes of every debate. You may not notice the 'aggression' coming from your own side of the fence.

I don't know, but the people doing that are not conservatives. My whole family is conservative except me and they are all great people, as are my conservative friends. I try to keep it civil, though I have lost my temper a few times when provoked.
