Why or why not? I think that allowing women to teach or speak in a public assembly such as that is way out of line and completely disgraceful.

Note: I mean no offense to women. It just isn't their place. However, women do have other roles to fill that men can't so it all evens out.

Sandy,

I believe that each religion in this Land of Freedom should be able to govern itself when it comes to rules of this type. This being a free country, 'advice' of many kinds will probably be furnished to a church that forbids women to speak from the podium with men present - they'll most likely get a heckuva' lot of advice, whether they want it or not! If the women in that religion accept that standard then what business is it of yours or mine to point fingers at them for doing it?

i see no difference in whether my pastor is a man or a woman. why should that matter?

you think that women shouldn't be allowed to speak in a public assembly. well, whether you like it or not, as citizens of the united states, women have the right to public assembly.

you think that women shouldn't be allowed to teach?
now, I'm sure that in school you had at least one female teacher. she when threw the proper training for the job, why shouldn't she be allowed to teach?

why do you believe that women expressing themselves or taeching is wrong?

why does is make a differance whether you are male or female?

i just dont see what the big deal is !

you sexist little bastard!
go to hell and burn!
burn!
burn!
burn!

Yes, women should be allowed to speak in all places. Some of the most powerful leaders in the world have been women.

Yeah there is nothing wrong with having women speaking at assemblies. THis is like the 3rd quesiton I have answered of yours about women not being able to do things. I'm not a feminist, its just weird to be asking these questions.

What are you, a CAVEMAN? It's 2007! Get with the program. Women have been doing A LOT more than just speaking in public, you dumbbell!

No offense to you, of course.

Allowed? It all evens out? Who are you or anyone else to believe yourself capable of judgind when anyone is or is not "allowed" to speak? Christ himself had no problem with women being part of his ministry. Now you feel you have the ability to decide they should not? Exactly what are these other roles you are so kindly willing to grant them?

Sorry, but people that believe it is okay to hold other people down, define their roles for them and even have the audacity to decide when they can and cannot speak infuriate me.

i believe women have the right to do anything us men can do. I think they have every right under the constitution to do whatever they want. And there is one thing women can do that men cant and that is give birth. Give the women a break.

Here is what it says on the subject in First Corinthians, Chapter 14, Verses 34 and 35:
"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church."

It seems pretty clear cut to me! Anyone who believes the Bible to be the infalible word of God, should accept that as the infallible word of God. Period.

Now, as for me and my family, we don't ascribe to the Bible as being infallible. Indeed, we think that it has been interpretted, translated, and generally monkeyed with by men.

I think that here, for instance, the word "speak" should be translated as "rule."

But then, my God doesn't think the Bible is free of errors. Some might disagree with me--and if they are women, and they think the Bible is the complete and utter Word of God, and the final authority on all things, then they should keep silent in their churches.

I think that anyone that can teach the true word of god has the right to do so.
saying it is "disgraceful" is a bit much don't ya thing?
I don't think that God is anymore impressed by a man preaching his word over a woman.

Allowed? That's very offensive. My initial answer is yes, women can and should speak.

However, I think that it depends on what religion you are talking about. It also depends on what your upbringing is and where you live.
