Did you ask for an intelligent answer, or just an answer. technically when you ask a question on here you do not necessarily get the correct answer but by canvassing a number of opinions there may a propensity of truth amongst the answers such that you can draw the conclusion that a particular answer is either correct or fits your prejudged opinion of what the answer should be and therefore you may be simply reinforcing your own opinion of the answer as being correct. For instance if you ask what is 10+4, the majority of people will say 14. If you ask "does a ducks quack echo" then all you will get is opinions, some of which will be incorrect.

Yes. Many people give irrelevant answers, for certain reasons-
1. Just to earn 2 points
2. Due to some misunderstanding with the Asker. The asker must have rubbed the answerer on the wrong side in earlier occasions.
3. When the asker want to dominate on certain things.
4. If concerned to religious matters mainly Islam Vs. Hinduism, Islam Vs. Christianity or Christianity Vs. Hinduism. This mostly happens in R & S section only.
5. Jealous of the other participant-

There are two kinds of people, the ones who are taking everything too serious and the ones who take things for what they are. So, people who give hot-headed answers take things as if the questions were intended ONLY for them.
But at the same time to get an intelligent answer one must ask an intelligent question.

This appears to be a very confrontational question. You may like to think about the way you phrase your questions and answers, so that they seem less threatening. Yahoo answers is fun and sometimes, even what seems like intelligent answer may not actually be correct and by the same token daft answers have been spot on. I have seen some answers on here which I know to be incorrect but the asker has chosen them anyway. Its up to the individual to do as they please with the answers they have been given.

It is sometimes difficult to decide which questions are serious and which are just looking for stupid answers. Also I believe there are many who just answer to gain points without thought about the actual question. Try to ignore the hot-headed answers and pick out the intelligent ones.

I wouldn't take it all so seriously. People on here, including me, have opinions about things they don't know everything about. Also there aren't that many intelligent questions on here. It's just a bit of fun and anyone wanting accurate answers to questions should probably look elsewhere.

Because everyone thinks they are smarter than everyone else is. This is due to the fact that most individuals see themselves in a favorable light and therefore try to sound intelligent in order to mask their own insecurities. Then there are those who just want the 10 points. It's pretty juvenile if you ask me. The best thing to do is to just try to not pay attention to those who are trying to act smart.
