Your weight and the father's weight has nothing to do with the baby's birthweight. Every pregnancy is different and sometimes even the smallest factor during pregnancy can affect the baby's birthweight. A 12-pounder at birth might just as easily herself give birth to a preemie. Even when doctors predict a really big/small baby simply by the size of the mother's abdomen are wrong a lot of the time. There's no way to tell with any accuracy.

Not that I know of. I would think it would be closer to the mother's birth weight IF the mother and HER mother were similarly sized and shaped though.
From personal experience :
My birth weight : 7 lbs 8 oz
My hubby's birth weight : 7 lbs 8 oz
Our first child : 7 lbs 8.5 oz
Our second child : 8 lbs 12 oz
Our third child : 9 lbs 2 oz

The birth wieght of your last child is a better indicator than the birth weight of either you or your husband. My first son was 9 pounds, much bigger than I had been (7.5 pounts or my husband 5.4 pounds full term). Friends have told me that each kid tends to get a big bigger than the last but not by much.
I would not count too much stock in how big the doctor says he is either. My doctor insisted than my 1st baby was around 7.5 pounds and they were clearly way off.
Good luck with introducing your second.

There isn't really but you should expect that your first child if delivered on time should be somewhere between you and your husband and that your next children will be bigger depending on how close to term you are when they are delivered. Also docs always overestimate weight, in everyone I know they were off by a minimum of a half a lb.

Nope not really. My son was 8lbs and two months early. Every baby will weigh different but the general rule of thumb is between 7.5lb and 8.5lb for a healthy newborn.

i think the dr can give you more of an acurate wieght then trying any equation. when i was born i was almost 10 pounds and my husband was 7.8 pounds my son came out EXACTLY the same wieght and height as his father. they looked EXACTLY the same too. like i wasnt even involved with the conception lol anyways that was off the subject but my dr. told me he was going to be about 7 pounds and he was close

No. I have small babies (6.2 and 5.8) I was over 6 lbs and my husband was over 9lbs.
My sister was also over 6lbs and her husband was only 7lbs and both of her babies were over 9lbs.
The health of the mother and quality of the food she consumes and stress levels determine baby weight, at least that is what my doctor told me.

eh i dont think so. Both my hubby and I were 6lbs 6oz when we were born. Our first was 5lbs 11oz... 2nd 4lbs 9oz and 3rd 5lbs 7oz. My mother in law ALWAYS would 'predict' based on what hubby weighed lol she was always sooo far off.. lol Plus what you eat and stuff factors in as well. so ya kinda cant.
