In how many different ways can you deal out 5 red cards if you have a standard deck of 52 cards. I got 13!/8! but that is wrong because the answer is 7,893,600.

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

You have 26 red cards out of 52 cards in the deck and you are selecting 5 of them.

It's 26nPr5 = 7,893,600

I hope that helps!! :-)

All we care about is the permuation of 5red cards out of a number of red cards. There are 26 reds cards, select 5 out of 26, the permuation is 26 x 25 x 24 x 23 x 22 = 7893600

I'm not sure where you are getting the 8 from.

Half the cards are red, so P(26,5) = 26!/21! =
26*25*24*23*22 = 7,893,600

There are 26 red cards in a pack (without jokers) -- hearts and diamonds.
If sequence is important, then 26P5 (which is the answer you give).
Otherwise, 26C5.
