How do you get the mouse to turn off when the computer is shut down?

The computer is not in stand-by but shut off. The mouse and keyboard are not activated for waking the computer. I've tried all of the power control options. All options for just shut down have been selected.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Unfortunately there is no way to achieve what you are looking for with out physically changing the components in your computer. Your USB ports are being kept active by your motherboard and there is no software solution for forcing them to shut off.

ETA: Or you could try one of the options listed above and completely cut off all power to the computer. Just make sure that you do a proper shut down first.

It just means that the power supply is keeping the USB ports hot. Useful if you want to charge your i-Pod while the system is off.

I would not worry about it. The front switch is not a true power switch. It sends a signal to the power supply to come out of its 'off' state and fully power up the system.

If you really want to turn it off, then plug the system into a power strip and then you can turn off the switch on that.

the power supply leaves the 5v rail partially powered so the power button works. usb is powered by the 5v rail. so it just happens on some motherboards.
