Throwing sidearm is not a bad thing. You just need to learn your release point and get control of the ball. Being that the ball is thrown off to the side, a bad release can really make the ball miss it's mark BIG TIME!!

I've tried to throw "over top" and it simply is just not natural for me.

It's all muscle memory. You throw side arm because that's all you've ever thrown.

You have to actively, and constantly, work at it to change it.

I'm a coach and I have baseball player who is the same way. It took us a couple of months to get it completely fixed.

Find some drills that focus on keeping your elbow above your shoulder when you throw the ball.

Throwing sidearm can upload rigidity to the elbow, yet elbow injuries take place to those that throw over the right, too. no longer elementary accountable it purely on your action. As for the easily injury - pass see a physician to make specific you do no longer do from now on injury or something lasting to your elbow. no one on YA is qualified to diagnose it ideal.

Find a coach to work with you on proper form for the throws you are attempting.

just really work hard on coming over the top, and just pratice it as much as posible,

and yea it is kinda a bad thing, i mean it's not the worst thing but you can't throw as far or as acurate and you could develope some arm problems.

also you could get in touch with some kind of instructor, and he could help you with your problem, this is what i did for my pitching and it really helped me.
