hi, i just bought one of those measure and charge cans of 134a for my car. I charged the refrig to within the normal range and its cooling great. The problem i have now if at high idle about 1800rpm when the compressor cycles off i get a 3-4 second growing/howling noise then it goes away, it cycles back up again in a few seconds, runs fine then again when it cycles off i get the same noise, did i screw it up? any advise appreciated, Joey

It is possible that either the high pressure or low pressure switch is taking out the compressor. You may want to have it checked by a service man, just in case there is too much freon in the system. good luck.

The noise is probably the system equalizing. But if it is short cycling you either have too much [high pressure cut-out switch] or too little [low pressure switch]. If you have a sight glass in the system, w/compressor running, look for foam &/or bubbles, indicating low; clear is either full charged, over charged, or empty. Otherwise use gages.
BE CAREFUL!

it would help to know the make and model of the vehicle. it sounds like you may have an orifice tube plugged or expansion valve frozen. it looks like your high pressure switch is cutting off the compressor before it burns up. Take it to a professional and have it diagnosed. good luck

Take to shop and have them check it. Sounds like it might need and oil charge or the compressor is going bad
