there is a myriad of cards that are played by everyone to make excuses for their bad behavior :
race card
weight card
gender card
sexual preference card
age card
poverty card
geographical card i.e: i'm from ..... i didn't know any better
religion card
intelligence card
looks card, i.e: you hate me because i am beautiful or you hate me because i'm not beautiful
ppl use what excuses their behavior instead of taking responsibility for their actions. and these cards are usually used by those with thin skins.

I really don't know. I like the show and heard there were some problems between the cast members. I haven't heard all the facts but if it is true that he made some ignorant comments about the guy's sexual orientation then he deserved to be fired - black, white or purple. It wouldn't matter what colour he is. Comments like that, along with ignorant comments about race, ethnic background, religion, etc. are not acceptable from anyone. If he said it, he should own it.

While I loved his character on Grey's Anatomy i do not care much for him as himself.....The race card is being abused in this case as it is in many cases....it isnt going to do him any good b/c you know the show wont let him back on....plus if they fired TR Knightly then he would use the gay card.....its just people being people and I know many people will ignore his race comment!

I've worked with many people at the high end of society. I find that some are spoiled brats that have NO IDEA what disadvantaged people go through, and who play every kind of card possible because they are self-centered and selfish.
Isaiah Washington is one of those; Paris Hilton appears to be another.
These people don't deserve our time or attention, imo.

The only excuse for playing the "race card" is if the same behavior was observed by two or more individuals and the person of color is picked on and not the others.

He was trying to play the race card when he should have been using the logical argument that his moral beliefs were being persecuted against.

By all means, I can call you whatever I want, but you better not say anything about me being black. I've seen this too many times
