Doctors say to wait until 12 months but I'm sure 1 month wont kill him.
I did hear if you introduce it too early he/she will have a greater chance of being allergic later on.
I would ask the doctor to be sure.
Good luck!

I think that giving your 11 month old a small amount of cow's milk (whole) would be okay. Preferably Organic and Raw. If you have a local Farmer's Market you may want to ask around for a reliable dairy that offers "Cow Shares". Also look online for tons of info. about milk on a site called the Weston Price Foundation. It may actually say to wait until 12 months.

My 3rd born was breast fed until she self-weaned at 11 months. She had been drinking from a cup for a while with either juice or water in it. She walked at 10 months and had an older brother and sister she wanted to always be with so it was quite the struggle to get her to sit still long enough to nurse. I asked her doctor about the transition and he assured me there was no real "magic" about 12 months to begin whole cow's milk other than it was a general recommendation. He said there was no need to give her formula for a month and then switch to whole milk. I began giving her whole milk in a cup at 11 months and she did just fine. She never did drink from a bottle.

I started weening mine of the breast and formula at around ten months. I would do 2 ounces reg.milk to 6 of formula and then slowly increase the reg.milk. By the time they were 11 1/2 months they were completely on cows milk.

Hi,
My daughter is 11 months old (as of June 25th) , and I have started her on cows milk. I started her off with 1oz of milk, and 7 oz of formula, then once a week I would bump her up another oz (or more depending on how you feel he/she is doing with it) until she is totaly on 8oz's of milk. She has 3 weeks until she is 1 years old, and is already on 4oz's of milk, and I haven't seen any kind of problem signs. Her stool is a little softer then usual, but that's to be expected with the transition.

Yes, I gave my daughter whole milk at 11 months and still breastfed her. She liked the milk and still likes to breastfeed. Even though they say not to give a baby whole milk until a year, you can give them a little sooner.

I personally would never give milk that is supposed to nurture and raise a calf to a human. The fat content is very different to human milk. Cow milk is one of the reasons so many kids get stomach issues. Consumption of cow's milk has also been linked to ear problems ie. increased numbers and severity of ear infections.

When my son was around that age I started him on a little milk, just so it wouldn't be a shock when I took him off formula. He didn't like it at first, but it helped if I warmed it up for him. I know it's not recommended until a year, but honestly, how much difference can it make? It's only a couple of weeks.
