This has been a source of many debates in my family. My mom says the best way to wash clothes is to put the clothes in the washer, then put the detergent in, then turn the machine on. I say that you should put the detergent in first, turn the machine on, and let the water and detergent mix a little, THEN add the clothes. Comments? Opinions? Suggestions? Thanks.

LOL this question is hilarious. My mom, dad, and I all do laundry different too!
I like to put the clothes in first, then turn the machine on to get the water going, then put in detergent with the water.
My mom starts the water, puts in detergent AND liquid fabric softener, then puts in clothes.
My dad starts the water and puts in detergent, and lets the water fill up all the way before putting in clothes. I think he's nuts.
My boyfriend has the best system of all. He brings his clothes home every weekend and has his mom do them.
LOL can you really do it wrong? They get clean every which way. :D

I start the water, then add the liquid detergent. Let that mix for a little while and then add the clothes. I started this, only because I would go to clubs and it looked like I had ejaculate stains on my clothes, when under black lights. People said that was from laundry detergent. Atleast that's what I hope it was. Anyways, I don't know if that has worked or not, been a while since I was under black lights.

Correct one is that you let the water and detergent mix a little, add water in a full volume then you should add the clothes , turn the machine on.

It depends on the washing machine. Front loaders have a little tray you put the detergent in so you put your clothes in and the detergent in its tray and away it goes.
My old top loader used to have a thing in the middle you put the detergent in. So i used to put the clothes in, pour in the detergent and turn on the machine.
I have one without an agitator now so i put in the clothes pour on the powder and start it up.

Of course the best method its usually in your washing machine manual. Its in black and white and sure way to end any argument.

I have always put the washing powder in first. It depends on the washing machine , I just bought a new machine AEG, So I can program the machine to come on when ever I like. So I have to put the soap powder in before hand. I can understand your mothers meaning. As some machine´s take time for the water to heat up, so the soap goes in after the water is hot and the soap melts. Do you think?

I agree with you. I put the detergent in first, then the clothes, this way the detergent doesn't ruin your clothers. I've been doing this way for years nad have never had a problem.

I usually put the detergent in first, but it really doesn't matter. Your clothes will get clean either way.

Um I don't think it really matters which way you do it. I personally turn it on, add the clothes, and then add the detergent.
