Because we are all spoiled and self-centered. In these other countries they realize what is really important in life and don't give up on it just because it is not perfect. However, we expect nothing less than perfect because we have access to everything we desire. We spend our days viewing Hollywood's version of love and marriage and that is what we expect. In reality, it is a lot harder, but a lot more rewarding.

One sentence: EVIL STARTER SPOUSE

Here in the US you see many getting married fast (religious reasons??.. maybe) and at a very young age. A lot of the people I know in stable and healthy marriages are on their second spouse.

I can only really give you reasons for divorce rates in Denmark, and that is that young people don't marry until they lived together for a long time (some own houses together and have several kids before entering into holy matrimony).

Other reason is the "I deserve" mentality. A lot of people give up fast thinking that marriages just work out themselves. Reality is that there's a lot of compromises involved in marriage and the minute you stop putting an effort into your relationship it starts heading down hill.

This is probably a question in itself... why is so many American women (but far from all) so focused on the fairy tale wedding day and couldn't care less about the following year (and usually separated or divorced within their first wedding anniversary)?

Conflict or anger itself does not have to cause an irreparable rift between partners. With good communication skills and a shared commitment to a marriage, even these are surmountable. How to save your marriage https://tr.im/vua7b

However, at that point where one partner is at the brink of abandoning the relationship, how can the remaining partner save their marriage? If you are at the point where your spouse has asked for a divorce, what can you do?

You must realize first that, you do have a choice. Often, when confronted by a crisis, we find ourselves backed into a corner thinking we have no choice in the matter. How can we change the situation when it involves another person's feelings or decisions? While we cannot, must not and in no way manipulate, blackmail or threaten our partner into changing their mind, we can actually control how we react to the situation. If anything, you must realize that you still have control over yourself. You have the opportunity to look inward and take responsibility for your own feelings and actions and even have the chance to take personal inventory of what your partner is trying to tell you. Are there points in your marriage that must be changed? If so, respond appropriately and proactively.

Divorce favors women, simply put---and logically, it's little wonder why it's popular today, much like a trendy fad.

Look at the growth of online matchmaking sites and read profile quotes from divorced women--they're riding high and happy as divorcees....because they're making their ex's pay blood, sweat and tears for their (and their kids) comfort.

Evidently, there are enough women world-wide abusing the sacrament of marriage and divorce court---because they know it's a win/win for them.......espicially if they got kids--that's their 'meal ticket(s). That's right: some women make divorce a cottage industry for them.

40 years ago, a woman was shamed to be a divorcee; today--they're bursting at the seams happy. And this is why divorce rates have no where to go but up......WAY UP.

Plane and simple, People today DO NOT FALLOW GODS WORDS in the bible. In bible times when Moses, Joseph even Jesus himself made a PROMISE OR VOWELS to God they kept there word and made sacrifices. Now a days people don't care about keeping there vowels or promises anymore, they just say one thing and do another. A lot of people lost respect for God. People now lost faith in there promises/vowels that they have said to one another on there wedding day. WE HAVE TO ALL REMEMBER THAT ANYONE CAN GET MARRIED AND THAT'S THE EASY PART BUT KEEPING THE MARRIAGE AND STAYING MARRIED THAT'S THE CHALLENGE. MARRIAGE IS NOT EASY IT'S A LEARNING EXPERIENCE EVERY DAY, AND ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THAT CHOICE. YOU EITHER GIVE UP ON YOUR PROMISES TO EACH OTHER AND LET THE DEVIL WIN OR WORK ON THE PROBLEM/ISSUES AND LIVE BY GODS WORDS AND MAKE SACRIFICES FOR ONE ANOTHER. REMEMBER GIVE A LITTLE AND TAKE A LITTLE FROM BOTH SIDES.

Americans have realized that contracts don't always last an entire lifetime. Not even the marriage contract.

We expect to be happy and to have what we want. If we don't get it, we change. We move more, change jobs more, change religions more than anyone else. Of course, we have more divorces.

i think it's because most countries have it part of their religion where divorced is not allowed and they're set up by their parents. that's the only reason i can think of.
