Not too common, strange, cute or harsh... we like androgynous names, surnames that could be used as given names, they can't be closely related to a colour or plant and can't end in the sound 's' (due to the surname), we're open to names from various cultures (but please tell us how to pronounce non-English names).

I love the name Luca (with a hard C). My friends are Italian and just named their daughter Luca. I just think it's so pretty.

Congrats on your daughter, by the way!

We have had 3 babies. With the first we had names picked out but when we saw the baby somehow the names selected did not seem to 'fit'. We each put our selection of names in a hat and picked one out - we did not like it, so picked a second. Did not like that either so we picked a third, at last, one we could both be happy with 'Paul'. WIth our next child we waited till he was born and went with our feelings - James and again with the third, we waited till he was born and went with our feelings - Richard. Look at your prescious gift and 'feel' the name. I'm sure it will come to you if you relax and are not clouded with preconceived ideas.
