Hi
i will explain u the concept...
firstly...there nothing lame in it...
its interesting.......!!!

if u were to drill a whole thorugh earth and jump in it...ure motion will be in SHM OR SIMPLE HARMONIC MOTION.........

HOW ???

this can be understood by the concept of gravitation.......................

we know that..gravityvaries from place to place.......
gravity(g) is maximum at poles
gravity is minimum at equator.......

its zero at the centre of the earth..........!
each time the ure body will fall where the gravity is maximum...so...this way.......it leads to vibratory motion.....restoring force which develops........so its now clear it follows SHM OR SIMPLE HARMONIC MOTION......

but..
u need a space suit to survive ....
and no one can say " u can go 200-300 miles...k" there are other concepts that r to be considered..............

hope this is the best answer...
all the best

If you could prevent the Earth from closing up again by installing a strong tube, here's what would happen:

You jump in and begin accelerating toward the center of the Earth. After a few seconds, you have reached terminal velocity due to aerodynamic drag. You would continue falling at about 120-200 miles per hour toward the center of the Earth.

The gravity inside the Earth is proportional to your distance from the center. This means the gravity would be half as strong halfway to the center of the Earth. The gravity at the center would be zero. So, after falling for several hours, you would start to notice that you were falling more slowly. The lower gravity would mean your terminal velocity in air would decrease the closer you got to the center. After falling for many, many hours, you would eventually drift slowly to the center of the Earth and come nearly to rest, oscillating back and forth a bit.

If there were no air in the tube, you'd jump in and emerge from the other end of the tube (upside-down) after less than an hour. Of course, you'd need a space suit to survive with no air.

You'd end up stuck in the middle with anyone else fool enough to jump in the "whole".
