As a nurse on a psychiatric unit, I give advice every day. Sometimes, the patients come back to me and tell me it worked or didnt work. One particular time, there was an older lady who had no family and she couldnt take care of herself any longer. She was very apprehensive about moving and being with strangers. I recommended a residential care center I knew about and suggested it to her social worker.
Months later, I got a call from the lady thanking me for going out of my way to help her. She liked the new place and had made new friends. This kind of thing happened just often enough to keep me in the business for 33 years.

Some friends are ungrateful. I told mine to quit his job and go to work for Enron since they were buying the utility he worked at anyway. Has he thanked me for advising him in such a tremendous career move?

I told my friend to be patient when her fiance left her. My husband is friends with him and I am friends with her, so we both saw how they both were acting after the breakup. She right away got into a relationship with some random guy (nothing serious, just someone to hang with and talk to). She still oved her ex-fiance and didn't know what to do....I told her to be patient that he will come around.. He eventually did, poured out his feelings, put everything on the table and now they are married.

The best advice I gave someone was a telemarketer when phoned my house.
I asked,"Where did you get this private number from?"
"I selectively found it". he said
I then in return told him off by saying," Well selectively loose it!!" Slammed down the phone went back to my computer ;-)

I told someone to eff off and die, and he did! No idea who the guy was, but he was quite inebriated, and did that dastardly thing using keys.
