I was told you can breastfeed fine with implants and it would cause no harm to the baby!! I'm sure it will hurt a lot more though when your milk first comes in! Good luck!

Most people are successful at breast-feeding after implants, but not all.
First of all, some women that never had surgery can’t breast feed. While the implant, in most cases is separated from the breast by a layer of muscle, there will be some trauma to the tissue in the placement process. This may decrease the likelihood of successful breast feeding. If the milk comes in successfully, many experts think that women with implants can breast-feed safely.
Good Luck!

Both silicone and saline breast implants are safe. Generally they do not impede breastfeeding though some women have their nipples repositioned as part of the implant surgery and this can have an effect. Some women with very large breasts (naturally or due to implants) have slightly more trouble with positioning the baby properly in the early weeks.
Saline implants are not discussed before because obviously saline is SAFE.
"After reviewing all available research, the Institute of Medicine came to the conclusion: "The committee finds no evidence of elevated silicone in breastmilk or any other substance that would be deleterious to infants; the committee strongly concludes that all mothers with implants should attempt breastfeeding" (1). "

"Many women are able to successfully nurse their babies with silicone implants. They are compatible with breastfeeding.
[...]
Silicone is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It is quite doubtful that nursing with silicone breast implants would be harmful to your baby. Even if silicone did leak from your implants (and the chance of this is only about 1.5 percent), it is highly unlikely that it would be able to leak through the pores in your alveoli (milk-producing cells) and into your milk, due to it's high molecular weight. Also, it's inability to dissolve in water makes it unlikely to enter your milk supply. If it did somehow find its way into your milk, would it be dangerous to your baby? Actually, the silicone used in implants is the same form as in Mylicon drops that have been used for many years to treat gassiness and colic in babies. Silicone is also used in the manufacturing of pacifiers and bottle nipples, in over-the-counter medications, such as antacids, and to coat fruits and vegetables."

Yes. You can nurse like any other woman. It does not hurt the baby at all. My sister got implants after her first baby knowing she would have more children. She did a lot of research and verified that it is safe to breast feed.

There is far more silicone in formula than in your milk. I don't have the article link, but if Mystic answers this question, she'll probably post it and others. She is the keeper of the websites, after all!
Breastfeed as much as you can. You may need a nursing supplementer, or you may not. See a lactation consultant during pregnancy, and don't let an ignorant OB bully you into bottlefeeding.
You rock, Mystic! ***high five***

Breast implant surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.
Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

yes, you can, although the pressure may decrease your milk production. mast Drs do implants under the muscle, so it will not injure the ducts
