I have twins (a boy and a girl) and different people have different ideas about naming twins -- ideas that they're usually pretty passionate about! Personally, I dislike "twin" names that are too cute, that rhyme, etc. So, as a matter of my personal preference, I don't like Hannah and Savanah, or Angelica and Ashley (while I'm not dead set against twin's having first names with the same initial, I don't love the idea, and, personally, I don't like either of those names). So that's what I don't like.

I very much like Nicole and Emily. I think they are terrific names, with the only possible downside (I said *possible* -- it's only a downside if you, as a parent, think it is!) is that Emily is such a popular name still that your daughter will more than likely have at least one other Emily in her class. But, so what. It's a classic, beautiful name, as is Nicole. I think they go nicely together -- it's not like one of them is an "Old Testament" name and the other is some extremely trendy name spelled oddly. They mesh and they're lovely.

As far as Bathany and Rebecca -- did you mean "Bethany"? My personal preference would be for Bethany over Bathany -- I'm not sure how to pronounce the latter, at any rate.

In any event, were the choice mine to make (and I recognize it isn't!) I would go with Emily and Nicole.

Of course, all that being said, I don't think names -- for twins, singletons, whomever -- can be decided in a vacuum, and I think it really has a lot to do with surnames and cadence. Some first names go great with some last names. Others, not so much. Ditto middle names (if you're using middle names).

ETA The more I look at this, the more I love Emily and Nicole!

As someone else noted, twins who have cutesy/rhymy/matchy names often loathe that fact -- twins are lumped together by so many people so much of the time it's no surprise that many, maybe most, don't like such name similarity. While I'm sure that not all twins dislike having "matching" names, I am willing to bet that there aren't any twins who resent *not* having "matching" names.

Best of luck, and enoy the twin thing!

I think anagrams (different names using the exact same letters) are a good way of naming twins if you want something similar or matching. That way they get their own individual name, but you've got that cute association.

My best friends in high school were twin girls- Lynne and Lorie. They hated the fact that their names were so similar. Twins have a natural aversion to being "clumped together". They have to share so many things as it is, why make them have names that are so similar? Why not offer two completely different names to match the two different identities that they will want to have? Therefore, I would recommend Bethany and Rebecca. Both are beautiful names that are not that common and have two different meanings. Good luck!

I personally think that you should pick names that rhyme. Like, for instance, Sierra and Briarra. I like to make up my own names as well because it's fun to think, you know, cause you never know when you are pregant with twins! But, for modern girl names, you should make up your own. Some of my own names include: Javanna, Briarra, Kiana, Javianna, and others. You may pick your own, because it's not the name you give the baby, it's the thought you put into the name to make it.

I REALLY like the Hannah & Savanah!
But i think you should spell the Savanah closer to match Hannah....
Like Savannah! With 2 N's instead of 1.

I like Bethany & Rebecca.

My second choice is Nicole & Emily.

Hannah and Savanah is too rhyme-y and they'd always get confused.

Angelica and Ashley is too predictable and cheesy.

Bethany & Rebecca is a great combination! I prefer the spelling Rebekah though. I also like Nicole & Emily.
