I am eight months pregnant (34 weeks). I had a colposcopy done on Wednesday and I am still very crampy from it. Is that normal? It comes and goes so i dont want to seem over dramatic. Thank you!

Yes, sounds normal. Excessive bleeding(like a period or worse) is what you want to watch for. I had mine done when I was 5 mo. pregnant and it killed me, I can't imagine having it done at 8 mo. I'd imagine the reason it's so crampy is because you're extra aware of what's going on down there and focusing on any twinges or pain even more, lol, I remember that stage. Try to relax and enjoy your prebaby interlude and sleep while you can! Good luck!

since a colposcopy is a very rigorous examination, it is probably normal to have cramping a few days after the examination, especially if you're sensative. Being pregnant can up your sensativity in those areas as well. If the cramping persists into next week, and there seems to be no change (fewer or less painful) then you should probably contact your physician and ask him about the problem.
Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!

i have never had one while pregnant, but i have had 6 of them when not pregnant, and i was pretty crampy afterwards, so i would say it is probably normal as you have other stuff going on right now (pregnancy)

if you are concerned, ask your doctor!

EDIT: yes they do this while pregnant, and yes it is safe. they are not quite as invasive when you are pregnant. i was told that the reason they do them during pregnancy is JUST IN CASE you end up having cancer then they know to induce you or deliver you c section and do a hysterectomy right there and then.

don't let anyone freak you out by saying you should not have had it done, your doctor us looking out for you and the baby, don't worry!

i've never heard of doing a colposcopy while someone was pregnant, in fact my dr made me take a p.t. before to make sure i wasn't pregnant. and my cramping afterwards only lasted that day. if you're worried at all, see your doctor.

I would call your doctor to make sure it didn't throw you into labor, which you are too early so you need to have it checked out.

bowl cramps can cause uterine contractions, keep an eye on it, but its will likely calm down soon.
