my new barlow lens is says x 2

so my new barlow x2 lens
doubles my magnification?

like if my eyepiece is 26mm and the magnification of an object is 46x does that mean the barlow makes it 92 x closer?

Yes it doubles the power of your eyepiece while maintaining the same eye relief. (the distance from you eyepiece to your eye.) Look here: http://www.astunit.com/tutorials/barlow.htm for more info. Happy observing.

Yes.

Barlow Lenses increase the magnification power of your eyepiece. Some Barlows are 2X and some are 3X. I find that it is almost impossible to use a 3X Barlow due to shakeyness of my mount and jerkyness of my adjusters.

Also, with the barlow lens in use, only the central part of my view appears to be true, and the edges seem distorted somewhat. So some care must be used in selecting what combinations are practical to use.
