I used to be like that when I was younger too....some of the folks in my family weren't healthy influences for me in that way, they wanted me to get in fights and such.

But as I got older and more beat up, it really did get to me. Bad shoulders suck. Concussions suck. Having a jaw that clicks to this day sucks.

And why did it get so bad? Because these days, people can't let things be what they are. It isn't enough for one person to have a feud with another....oh no, it *all* has to be like the Hatfields and McCoys, my family, your family, my gang, your gang....what starts out as a one-on-one fistfight on a hot summer's day turns into a *dogpile* and a *boot party* the minute someone slips on gravel driveways....

And yeah, I was the one who slipped, as my clicking jaw likes to remind me. But I had no choice in the matter, it would have been my kid sister if it hadn't been me....and the rest of my family was too messed up to either have my back or hers.

But I digress. My point is, the whole flaw with "Eye for an eye" is that it is in human nature to *escalate*, to do "one better". The minute one person is happy with an eye or a tooth, some flaming nutjob goes for a severed ear or scrotum. Really, when it comes to violence and doing wrong, we all have the instinct, the desire, the competitive "thing" where we want to escalate and want to "send a message".

And so, if it doesn't end with you, it just keeps getting worse. A one-on-one fistfight just *never* ends there anymore....it becomes a boot party, which becomes a drive-by shooting, which becomes a school shooting, which becomes a riot, and on and on all the way up to acts of warfare and terror.

So yeah....I'd say that anything that doesn't leave a permanent scar or three just is *not* worth the trouble. Money, clothes, shoes can be replaced. And if it does get to the point of physical harm, call the cops, *press charges*, and do not let anyone intimidate you into letting them drop. No need to go Batman on people when your tax money already *pays for better*.

Live and let live. Small stuff can be replaced, and if it isn't threatening your life or the lives of others, it's *all* small stuff.

Hope this helps....Good Question! ^_^

No, I just can't do that to ppl. I've been crapped on so many times you wouldn't believe it. If i returned all those favors, I'd be a lot worse off than I am now. Those ppl will get there's one day, but not from me!

True story in that I was the manger of accounting and this manager of IS was an a**hole. He always tried to get a boost off of your mistakes rather than trying to work with you to resolve the issue. He stabbed me in the back one time real good and I had the chance to return the favor. I just ignored him and smiled everytime I saw him because he knew it and I knew it. I just waited my turn and gave him enough rope to hang himself which he did. Man, talk about a good feeling.

I'd return the favor 10X worse with whipped cream and a cherry on top. If your going to seek revenge, there is no second place.

Let people dig their own grave! I wonder how some people can even have a good night sleep; not that I am St. Theresa or anything, but people just don't quit doing stuff that is terribly bad, mostly for them.
The consequence is already in the action!

Although it is very easy to say that I wouldn't if by this action that someone would endanger my life or that of the persons that I care about I would feel bound to retaliate and to ensure that this person woud never pose a threat again!

No, Just forgive them. Trust me your life will be much better if you just let it go. If you retaliate you just start a neverending cycle of one wrong after another. Just turn it over to God and let him be your vindicator. Trust me he can handle it better than you can ever imagine if you will only give it to him.

No!
Mainly, I will try to improve the person! I prefer schools to prisons and love to hate!

No, because karma will do that for me. No good will come out of being bad back.
