I am in law school and I am wondering if it is feesable to request a certain day to be induced, as I am fearful of setting in class going into labor. My school is 45 minutes from home...or longer...because I'm in the bay area and traffic will make that an 1 1/2. So, if I go into labor while at school or while on my commute...it won't be pretty. I am thinking of asking my dr to induce me the Friday before my actual due date (obviously thats if I dont have him early). Do you think my dr. will be willing to do this? or is inducing only for post-term?

Yes, I was induced 1 day early with my first child, 8 days early with my second child and 11 days early with my 3rd child. I requested the day with my 2nd & 3rd. And they are all 3 beautiful, healthy, happy, normal children.

you can talk to your dr, some will induce as early as 38 weeks, but if the cervex is not ready you may end up with a c-section. Don't worry too much about the possible commute to the hospital, first time moms generally have longer labors, and you will likely have alot of warning signs that you are starting labor.
