Out of those choices Martin...the reasons is process of elimination...Pudge and Jorge to me are getting a little older and the back end of fabulous careers. Pudge was one of my favorite players ever, but he's getting towards the end. and Martinez, is horrible on defense, good hitter, but as my 'back stop' he isn't the most reliable. Servicable? yes, but I prefer Martin. The reason, he's a lot younger, good defense and solid offense. He's a .300 hitter, probably going to have about 20 HRs and 90 RBIs, very nice!
However if I could choose anyone, it's Joe Mauer...same age as Martin, terrific defense and very solid hitter. Obviously led the league in batting last year. A little slow because of injuries this year but I think he might be one of the all time greats when its all said and done.

Hands down Russell Martin (not just because I am a Dodger fan). He is an excellent def. catcher, good arm, smart, blocks ball in the dirt properly, works well with the pitchers etc.. Not to mention that he hits ( 9 Hrs., and hits really well with RISP). He also plays balls out each and every day. Oh did I mention the SB's? He is a complete package behind the dish.

I already have Posada on my team, and he's doing just fine, thank you very much. Long-term, I'd go with Martinez.

as a defender, probably Martin. He seems to have the defensive skills to handle the position and the offensive skills to stay there.
Simply as a player, V-Mart, all the way. He just sucks at defense.

If I was a pitcher, pudge, I would pitch slow with runners on on purpose so he could nail those fools haha.
and he has potential to hit bombs.

I would put them in this ranking considering their current offensive/defensive contributions and AGE:
1- Martinez
2- Martin
3- Posada
4- Rodriquez
However, give me any of them and I would be happy.

pudge...for the next year or so...then he will probably be getting too old to play behind the plate...after that, i would go with martin...guy can hit, run, and is fine behind the plate.
