Its a case of, the bloke having his life ruined, as no-one will really believe him. Men should stay out of the headlines until such time it is proved he is guilty. And a woman who is caught knowingly trying to get a man imprisoned for rape, should get the same sentence he would have got.
The genuine cases are hard to prove because of the intervention of all these fake claims. These claims ruin lives, these men may be married , or have kids as you say, and people will always wonder, 'what if'. Its nice to see that women appreciate the ruined lives of these male victims. Mick

Simple: because so many sexual assaults ARE done by men. 99% of them, in fact. Statistically 1 in 4 women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. That is a lot of women, and a lot of men doing it. Doesn't make it right for a woman to falsely accuse a man, of course, but there are MUCH fewer cases of false accusations as there are actual rapes. Sad, but true.
The good news is that a man doesn't have to prove he is innocent. The accuser has to prove he is guilty. That is the way the system works. And lie detectors ARE used. Yeah, he has to go to hell and back, but the alternative is worse: thousands of rapists getting away with it. At least if a guy is falsely accused, he can counter-sue when he is done and make a buck off of it. Most won't go through the trouble, but the option is there. These women don't really get off scot free. There are legal consequences for falsely accusing someone of a crime.

A few years ago women were afraid to go to the police with sexual assault/rape claims, as they were unlikely to be believed. Now we have a different scenario. Women are more likely to be believed these days. All we have to do is look at shows like The Jeremy Kyle show, to understand the depths of lies that are told and the convincing manner in which they are portrayed. Women may have got drunk and consented unknowingly or as you mentioned in your question they may want to get back at an ex or to get compensation. It a sad fact that humans lie and it's up to the police to find out the truth. I agree it's unfair, but great care has to be taken when dealing with this kind of case. I feel sure that you have researched this fully but at the moment I don't think things will change all that much. Have you thought about a career maybe with victim support? You sound like the kind of person who would be valued in this profession.

You're right. A buddy of mine was fired 6 months ago because of a false accusation made at his job. Odd thing was, other guys that didn't like his excellent work ethic made the accusation he was being crude with the women. He wasn't, and the women even said so. Didn't matter, they still fired him.
I'm a male teacher. What do you think it's like for us? All we have to do is be accused of sexual misconduct, and automatically we're guilty. If you're a teacher, you are guilty until proven innocent, and even then you're still guilty because you were once accused. It's a crock. My career depends on the fact that no one gets pissed at me and makes a false allegation.

It is technically illegal to make a false sexual assault claim. However, is nearly impossible to actually prove that it is false because many of these cases turn into a he said she said battle. However, I do think that our society has taken the dangerous position of automatically assuming that the accused is guilty.

this is such a legal minefield because:
its easy to prove whether a couple of poeple have had sex, and even if it was rough - but how do you prove the man did it against her will? - virtually impossible.
Its such a tuff one and i feel so bad for gals who have genuinely been raped and the bloke gt let off, and on the other hand those men who were falsely accused and put in jail

Sex crimes are unique because the people who are accused of it are usually "guilty until proven innocent". The goverment can't ignore a possible sex offender in their capacity to protect the citizens, and it's more apt to assume guilt to prevent the offenses from occuring again than to assume innocence and risking other people being victimized.

Something like that happened to my husband and his friend over 40years ago in his former communist country. He and his friend were very popular 19 year olds.A younger girl 16 years old wanted to be part of their crowd. When she was rejected, she cried wolf and they spen t several months in prison before the truth came out and they were let go. I tchanged his perspective of women forever, no lo nger seen as sweet little things. Too bad....

It's a bummer but a few states have begun prosecuting these "cry wolf" gals for false accusations and more than a few of the "women" are facing 20 years! Hoo-Rayy! ;-)=
