I LOVE Stephen King, couldn't find anything else I loved more. Except a series I read in high school - Yes it's that old. The name of the book was Gorgon Child. It's the 2nd or third book in a series (I'm sorry I can't remember the series) it's almost like the dark tower series only MORE. By the way what was up with Wizzard and Glass??????????? DUDE!
I believe you will love Gorgon Child - I DID. and I'm a die hard King fan!

Colin Forbes is a favourite of mine, Elizabeth George with the Lynley series, Sue Grafton, James Patterson, Patricia Cornwall and Nelson Demille has some exciting novels like The Lion's Game, the Charm School. You could even try Jeffrey Archer...

Mary Higgins Clark are great books, they are suspense so you still have that thriller side of the scariness that you get when you read Stephen King's books.
I have recently gotten into reading Urban Legends, and there are tons of books on that, I love reading them, lots are scary some are weird and sometimes even gross and Spiritual.
Good Luck and Happy Reading.

If you like Stephen King, I'd say check out Dean Koontz. It's still in that same horror genre. Or if you want something different entirely, check out James Patterson's Alex Cross series. It's murder mystery and suspense thriller.

I can relate to your question. I suggest books by Patricia Cornwell. She writes crime novels based around her main character Dr. Kay Scarpetta (she's a medical examiner)
There's a list of all the books all in the link.
