I support Democracy, capitalism and free enterprise. I don't support socialism in any form and I don't support universal health care. We already have our children and Seniors on Universal health care and look at the mess that is. I know a Senior Citizen who's doctor just found that he has Cataracts- the doctor said that they should remove them now before they get to big and affect his quality of life. Medicare won't allow them to do the surgery until they get to big and affect his quality of life. How insane is that. The doctor knows that they need to be removed eventually- he who is the professional, reccomends doing it while it is small, but the government who is all knowing won't have it. This is just a small glimpse into what our health care will be like when completely run by the government. It is already bad enough being run by the insurance companies.

Another story- I know of a child with severe Asthma. The doctor has prescribed him enough inhalers to get him through the month. He is under a doctors care and the doctor knows what he needs to get by. These inhalers are vital to an asthma patient so that they can breathe. Medicaid will only pay for 2 in one month. That is one for home and one for school. He ran out of the inhaler and had to spend a couple of days at the hospital, because he could not breathe. Again the government knows better then the well trained expert and it caused some serious problems for the boy and ended up costing tax payers more money in the long run- if he had been allowed to get the preventative medicine in the first place, the hospital bills would not have been incurred.

I have talked to people from other countries talk about their health care, and I don't want that. I have talked to Americans who have lived in Foreign countries and everyone of them will tell you that our system is better.

Yeah there are problems, medical bills are outrageous. But Government health care is NOT the answer. We need to go after the drug companies and the insurance companies, that will be the start to solving this crisis- the government taking it over, will only make it worse.

I don’t care for Universal Health Care or Socialism, that much since most of the time neither works or works well. I believe in economic opportunity. Social advancement by hard-work, not necessarily. Not everyone wants social advancement and not everyone wants to work hard, and one is not caused by the other. Depending on how you brand it ‘education’ may not matter. You can get straight As in school and still be useless in the workplace. I believe our country was found on a wide blend of things, and during that time period, if something was not working you did not continue to do it. No, I don’t want the guy at McDonalds wearing a doctors mask, unless he has some dreaded disease that the mask prevents him from spreading, or if it is some kind of new fashion statement.

I support social programs that assist those who suffer hardship. If that fits your definition of "socialist," then paint me red and call me Fidel.
Don't confuse your economic theory and your political theory. This country was founded on a tax revolt, and established to keep government from VICTIMIZING its citizens (a task it has failed to accomplish repeatedly throughout the generations).
It was not founded as a "capitalist state".
Universal health care would mean that all citizens have access to good health care; it does not mean that the low-grade idiot who serves your Clownchow would be wielding the knife at your prostate surgery.
It is all very well to say "economic opportunity and social advancement by hard-work [sic]" is an ideal goal, but what about the woman abandoned by her husband with no education, no work experience and two kids to take care of? Shall she try to support her family on the Clownwages she can earn flipping burgers, or shall we offer her some real job training and assistance while she is getting that training, so that she actually CAN support her family?
What about the family whose poppa gets thrown in the clink for black-marketing recreational materials? Shall the infant in the Salvation Army crib, that kid he spawned before getting NARCed, be left to starve?
Our country was not founded on those premises you so proudly parrot back from FoxNews; it was founded on the premise that all men were created equal, and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, and AMONG these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
This was not intended to be a comprehensive or an exclusive list, but rather an inclusive suggestion, fellah.

everyone does not believe in some form of socialism. Study history, study the way markets work and respond, educate yourself and you will see that socialism is the worst thing you can do for a given economy. There is a reason it has not worked in the past and it won't work now.
As for universal health care, something does need to be done to address the current state of health care; however, universal health care is not the answer.

Absolutely perfect example of a biased question. Universal Health Care is not exactly socialism, though it may have socialist ideals...the combination automatically implies that Universal Health Care should have the same negative connotation as socialism.

Additionally, the fallacy of equating a fast food worker providing medical attention is simply wrong.

The idea of universal health care is a noble and worthy goal. Who can really argue against the value of providing quality health services to all, regardless of social status or wealth. Sure, the practical application of such an ideal is next to impossible in the current configuration of the American government's economic system, and massive changes frighten most individuals...yet, Mr. Conservative, you do not need to resort to hyperbole and scare tactics to make your arguments. Here, let me do it for you:

Universal Health Care would destroy the current American system of healthcare. Many doctors, health administrators, and health professionals will be economically harmed. Additionally, the amount of time to impliment changes would undoubtedly create confusion in the bureaucratic system, leaving many patients without adequate care. There is also the possibility for many bankruptcies of health institutions.
Additionally, the medical research system would be at a loss without for-profit company support, especially in the light of NIH and NSF funding cuts.

Though a worthy goal, universal health care would be a difficult, if not impossible, goal in the US.

See that? Logical and reasoned out.

I support Universal Health Care and Socialism.

Maybe the affirmative action minority will try harder than the brainy doctor. So, let's say I need knee surgery. The smarter doctor would typically do everything flawlessly, but he'd probably have a real attitude, and schedule my surgery around his golf outings.

The minority doctor would probably take longer to do the surgery, might have to pause a few times to check his medical books, and might forget a small sponge inside me, but he's doing the best job he can. You know, all those medical books are so unnecessarily complicated, and they're all written in English, so if his native language is Spanish for example, we should cut him some slack as he is cutting into us.

Let's say the minority doctor doesn't do such a great job. I would feel better knowing my money went to him. He might have some huge family with six children, compared to that snooty white-bread doctor who has just one little princess of a daughter named "Brie". Maybe my knee won't work quite as well, but at least I've helped out his six kids. Brie probably already has a polo pony. She doesn't need my hard earned money like the minority doctor and his constantly pregnant wife.

Maybe if they took some of those pimply faced people out of McDonalds and put them in surgical gear, I'd get the right hamburger order for once. It's a win-win proposition.

Everyone believes in some degree of socialism, even you. We socialize police protection, fire and rescue, the court system, public rights of way and roads, etc.
Some countries socialize medicine as well, and do a very good job of it. The Netherlands has top-notch health care available to all.
I doubt the U.S. government's ability to manage health care. I just don't think they are up to the job. They would simply add more layers of bureaucracy, mismanagement, and waste.

ya already have socialism for the drug companies,,,,find out how much money the lobbyists kick in to your congressman governor or state senators campaign fund, then look up his voting record ,,,drug companies employ doctors full time as field reps,,,,,,,the dept of hew has the ama write out billing codes for meds, procedures, and term definitions,,,,definitions are actually decisions as to what constitutes established medical procedure.drug companies would end up dead in the water & bankrupt under a freemarket system.find out about barriers to cheaper generic drugs in u.s. markets

I am not for socialism, but I am for Universal health care.....you are confusing universal health care with free health care.....under the plans being suggested by the Democrat's, people will be able to buy into health care plans.....if it were socialist, it would be free.
