Dreams have the strange ability to affect one’s thoughts all day long. I really do not like it when this happens to me. Sometimes I have a hard time shaking off the weird feelings that they give me but I just try not to let it stay in the forefront of my mind and I keep busy. Usually by the end of the day they are a distant memory. However there are some dreams that you will probably remember forever. I can still remember dreams that I had when I was a kid!
My daughter has posed this thought to me in the past; perhaps when we are sleeping and dream, that is real life and when we are awake that is when we are dreaming. (She said this when she was only 6yrs old).

I know what you mean, but I can never fully remember the dream. Lately it's like I'll have a disturbing dream and then usually my phone rings in the morning and jars me awake. I wake up with a bad feeling and it stays with me for quite a few hours. :-/

Yeah - I dreamt once I got shot...and woke up looking for the bullet hole. That wasn't as bad as going back to sleep...and having a scar from the bullet in the next dream!

I had one lastnight where my husband was stabbed in the side and the E.R wouldn't see him cause they said it wasn't serious enough so he grabbed the wound and started ripping his side off!!! This may be cause we were fighting lastnight but it was horrible none the less....then the other night I had one where my ex boyfriend who committed suicide five years ago had invited me over and his mom started beating me with a shovel.

It werids me out for a few days.

Happens all the time. It helps me to write down what I remember of the dream. Turning it into short stories seems to help me get it out of my system so I can relax the rest of the day. It seems like getting it out in the open helps.....definitely helps me sleep better.

yeah. although, i'm usually traumatized all the way til i fall asleep again, and usually i don't want to sleep.

don't you hate when you tell someone about it and they say stuff like "oh get over it. its just a dream!" my husband says that. i wish he'd have one that traumatizing just once so he understood
