it`s not so much the beach as the friends you make there that make it fun

San Diego beaches!! If you want to have some real fun then head to Pacific Beach and Mission Beach, they are right next to each other, and join the party. We're the only place left in CA where you can drink alcohol on the sand. And PB is thes best place to be if you want to party on the beach. There is a certain section of the beach in front of Lahaina's bar that is litterally shoulder to shoulder with people partying, doing beer bongs, playing beer pong, ect... That spot gets a bit crazy so I usually hang out just outside of it. But Pacific Beach and Mission Beach have a great party scene. Many people just relaxing, drinking beers, playing volleyball ect... Right on the other side of Mission Beach is Mission Bay which is great for water sports like jet skiing and boating.
I can't wait till the 4th, there will be over 250,000 people in Pacific Beach and Mission Beach celebrating the holiday. It;s the best day in SD in my opinion.
COme to San Diego, there are so many different types of beaches here to choose from; wide sandy flat beaches, small beaches dotted along a rocky shoreline, and beaches below 300 foot cliffs. Not all allow alcohol so if you don't want to be near that then there are plenty to choose from. Also in Mission Beach there is Belmont Park which has a roller coaster and other rides. But Pacific And MIssion BEaches are great b/c there are many stores, restaurants, and cafe's you can walk to from the sand. PAcifc Beach and Mission Beach have the best and most fun beach scenes in CA and this nation.

Yes Pismo is great; however, if you are in Southern California you should check out Huntington, Redondo, Laguna (especially if you like art), Imperial Beach is always a blast in San Diego and so too is La Jolla. Tourist favorites are Santa Monica because of the board walk and tourist traps kind of thing. But, for quieter times check out Carlsbad (San Diego County), Leucadia.
Hope this helps!

I'd recommend Leo Carrillo state beach by Malibu for southern California. And for Northern Cal. Santa Cruz for the
boardwalk and rides, and girl/guy watching. For the sand,
do check out the beach at Carmel and see the lone Cyprus.
There's one other beach that's next to the home of the Monarch butterfly in Northern Calif. And I can only think of the
last name of the town near it, ............Grove. The beach was
very clean with nice white sand, like Carmel and Malibu.

San Luis Obispo...I am from California...lived all over the state and this is my favorite beach town. The most beautiful and breathtaking part of the coast is Big Sur...just adding that on. :)
I have to add on the Venice Beach (another users suggestion) is probably my second favorite. Good suggestion!

The beach in Carpentaria. There is a nice little village toward the beach, where you can go to the candy store, ice cream shops, etc. The beach itself is clean and beautiful. Five stars :)
