I have a meeting with a big agency in NY in 2 weeks. I live in San Diego and was born and raised on the West and we dress casual for most meetings. I want to wear something professional and also appropriate for the season. I also don’t want to have to have to walk long distances in uncomfortable clothes. Any suggestions…oh yeah and I am plus-size. 

You couldn't go wrong with a sleeveless dress topped by a light jacket. You could take the jacket off while outside in case you have to walk. There are some very cute new styles out that are knee length and have long jackets that come about three inches above the hem of the dress. Very chic and flattering for plus size people. Even though it is very cool - I would stay away from 100% cotton or linen. It is too hard to keep them looking fresh. Keep the shoes simple and absolutely no open toes.

I think you should wear something like a pencil skirt that is knee-length because that looks professional, and then wear a sleeveless casual-dressy kind of top with some heels. I think you would look so nice! Also I would wear a belt with the skirt, and I don't think an outfit like that would be uncomfortable. If you haven't bought the outfit yet, I would go to the store Forever21, they have affordable clothes that are really cute! I hope this helps and I hope you have a great meeting! =)

It depends on the nature of the business, and, unless you're meeting with individuals in their own practice, on the business/company you're meeting with.

Yeah, I know, not a black-and-white answer!

If that particular business or those particular people are accustomed to "business" dress (suits) then whether it's January or July will not, unfortunately, matter. But your best bet is to go by what is standard in that particular industry or to simply call and ask someone at that company. Honestly, that's what we do all the time when there's a business meeting with someone in another area (geographical and/or business) -- just ask. Hopefully they'll say "business casual" and you'll be good to go...and hopefully they will not say "business attire" or "we wear suits to the office" because, let's face it, pantyhose on even a cool and breezy day are positively evil, and there is a special place in hell for the person who created them in the first place.

Wear a nice summer lightweight pansuit with a cami or silk sleeveless top underneath. Add some conservative jewelry and nice pumps and you should look great.

Wear a nice tan colored suit. Put a tank kind of sweater underneath it and wear pretty colored necklace. Add some conservative heels and you'll be feeling and looking great.
