It's not right that as an adult, as viewed by the legal system, you are refused the right to protect yourself. I still don't understand what theses legislators are thinking, but obviously they don't live in the real world... well, at least not in NJ. This is why we have our second amendment, which was made not just for protection against thieves and bad guys and whatnot, but for protection against our own government. Maybe one day...

What socialist hellhole are you in that requires a permit for a Constitutionally protected right? It's not like that in most places. I've had my own guns since I was 12 or 13 and took them with me when I enlisted in the Air Force and left home at 18.

You may be mature but most 18 year olds are not. You have, hopefully, a long life ahead of you. Take it from someone who is 60 there is plenty of time for you to play with your guns. Just be patient and your patience will be rewarded.

In most states you must be 18 to own long guns (rifles and shot guns) and 21 to own a hand gun. To carry you must be 21 and have a clean record.

Depends on your state, in most places they have laws saying you have to be 21 to carry a gun. I don't agree with it myself, but for some reason state legislators want to keep it that way.
