sometimes even if I have only seen their avatar I still picture it sitting behind the computer..

yes, actually I do. I know how some of them look like and somehow it matches the way they choose the avatars. there were, however, situations when I was mistaking. there was this friend on my page... she used to have very beautiful avatars... with pale skin and blue eyes. when she posted her picture, she proved to be an Indian girl, with dark skin, dark eyes and really short hair... lol
