I don't have a lot of details. I remember it from being a kid in the early 80's. There was some sort of monkey creature or werewolf of some sort. All I really remember is that it was shocked by an electric fence. I also think it woke up in a zoo, but I could be confusing that with An American Werewolf in London, which is not the movie I'm talking about. If you can figure this out without much details, then you got yourself 10 points.

You could be thinking of an early 80's movie called Altered States. I remember it was really weird and this guy turned into a half/ape, half/man creature.
