Imus is forced to resign when he calls the Rutgers' women's basketball team "nappy-headed ho's." Fine - the public should not tolerate such incendiary comments. But why is there no similar outcry when Ann Coulter says she wishes John Edwards died in a terrorist attack? http://www.mediainfo.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003605733 Coulter's remarks are not anonymous, they are vindictive and purposefully hurtful - and yet we accept it as a part of politics. Why?

Thank you for your common sense!
Finally someone that sees how things truly are!
I don't know why Ms. Coulter's hateful comments are continually accepted.... and worse yet, praised.

She is the abomination of evil on earth- she will be her own un-doing just like Mr. Imus was. Giver her enough rope and she will hang herself.

Don Imus' remarks, although insultory and racist, were meant as a joke..to get a laugh at others expense. These remarks offend an entire race of people not just one individual. He's no different than a bully in a playground who beats up on those that are different than himself, which is all grounded in insecurity. He is no longer a little bully, but a grown man who should know better., and set better examples for the youth in this world. His brand of humor is neither funny or entertaining
Ann Coulters remarks,on the other hand, were meant as personal commentary as to the character of one individual she feels deserves her rath in order to get a political point across to people who listen to her. Her opinions were not based on race, creed or religion, but political or personal ideology. Politics imply competition...Radio broadcasts imply entertainment..

it doesn't make one situation very much different than the other but I think because if you run for office or become a celebrity you should expect people calling you names or saying outrageous things about you. Those girl Imus spoke about were just trying to play basketball probably for college money. His comment was him picking on the weak, to say something crazy about the Vice President is unusually or uncommon. Its Politics.

Not that the truth matters, but, Coulter was saying about Edwards exactly what Bill Maher said about Donald Rumsfeld, Maher wishing Rumsfeld had been killed by terrorists. Funny how Coulter-haters don't include that nifty little fact.

Because Imus made the mistake of going on Sharpton's radio show to say sorry to all the black people since obviously the whole race was set back 200 years by his remark regarding a basketball team that no one knew about unless it was local or maybe tri-state area.

Imus, for all his faults, never talked about wanting people to die. Ann Coulter wishes death on anyone who does not agree with her. In a fair world, which we do not live in, she would have been arrested for her hate filled death threats

Picture this..Ann Coulter on United 93, United 11 or any of the other planes on September 11, 2001..everytime the media gives this heartless ***** airtime, it is another slap in our faces as Americans or any other peoples of the world who have been effected by terrorists attacks. Right to free speech? Yes, she has it...but she crosses the line..tune her out..turn her off and email any channel that puts her on the air.

Because we have freedom of speech. She didn't infringe upon anyones rights by saying that such as Imus did with a racist remark.

the difference is the pattern, although they both disgust me. don imus has a history of racist & sexist comments both on & off the air. ann coulter says these out of left field comments just to shock & get publicity to sell her books.

Because we have the First Amendment. Or maybe you think it would be better to cut every one's tongue out at birth. And then no one would ever be "hurt" or "insulted" again by spoken words.
