I'm not pregnant now, and don't plan to be for about 18 months-2 years, but my boyfriend and I are having a disagreement about what to name our future son. I like the name Cortez and he likes the name Isaiah. They don't really work together, so we can't use one as a first and the other as a middle. Both have some negative associations (the explorer Cortez and the newly fired Isaiah Washington), but we are firm in our decisions. Which name do you all prefer? (My daughters are Juliana and Olivia)

i think isaiah cortez sounds nice but i always think that the woman should get the final decision because she is carrying the baby around for 9 months! even thouhg the man helped make the baby. so i think you should always make the final decision on what you decide .

I like both with Cortez and you can call him Corey as a nickname, both of them are unique, and don't worry about the negative associations 18 months- 2 yrs. from now most people won't remember Isaiah Washington getting fired.

Cortez is a really strange name, but the more I read this, the more I liked it. People are naming their kids all sorts of new names, there will be lots of other kids named Isaiah, but only one Cortez.

Is an extremely cute name. It would be a perfect name for a little boy.
But if i only had to choose one I would like Isaiah more.

What's wrong with Isaiah Cortes? (Cortez looks better with Isaiah without the z). Or even Cortes Isaiah? It works for me! The child can decide later in life which name he wants to be known by. I think it's a very unique combo and it sounds great!

I think Cortez is a really cute name. I also think "Isaiah Cortez" is cute. But, if you and your b/f don't agree, maybe you should just trash both the names and start over.

Sorry...but, I'm siding with your boyfriend. I think Isaiah is a great name and sounds good with your other children's names. Cortez is really unique but what middle name would you use to go with this?

You can use his name choice for the firstname and your choice for the middle name, it will not be much out of place, it even sounds nice.
Otherwise, if you never want him to have his name made fun of, like mine was, then make the name Kevin, only thing anyone could really rhyme against my name was Heaven, thats a good one!
So dont worry to much, when you do become pregnant, then i bet you both will be leaning towards even more names, as things happen quickly then.
Take care dont aurgue over something that is not made yet.
Write down 5 names you like best without discussing them, and then see what other choices you may link up on.
