Definitely the best. Here in Britain it was criminally overlooked but it's seriously genius. The thing is it didn't catch on in the US til season 4 and then it became huge. Most people watch a few episodes and don't get what the fuss is and abandon it. Trust me, if you stick with it and get to know everyone in the Seinfeld 'universe', you'll love it.

IMO it was the best comedy show of all time. It's definately a character based show. Meaning that half of the jokes are based on you knowing the characters. When the wacky neighbor Kramer walks into the room and throws his arms in the air, it wouldn't be funny unless you knew that he always does something goofy when he comes on stage.
Also, all the jokes tie into the plot line. If you don't watch the whole episode, you may not get the joke at the end of the epsiode.
They usually have different plot lines that eventually tie in with each other. For example, in one episode, one of the character was lying to this woman, telling her he was a marine biologist. She was impressed by this and agreed to date him. Later in the show, they were walking down the beach, and there was a crowd of people gathered. As they approached the crowd, someone yelled out, "There's a beached whale here, is anyone a Marine Biologist?" and he was put in an akward spot.
It goes on from there, but my point is that they have all these different plot lines that seem disconnected at first, but eventually tie in together.
Man, it's hilarious! You have to watch a few episodes, then you'll be hooked. In my area, NBC has a rerun every night after the local news. Check it out....

Personally I thought Seinfeld was extremely funny and I've probably watched almost every episode. But I know people (a few) who didn't enjoy it as much. It probably depends on the brand of humor you prefer.

Everyone has their opinions. It is more of a cult classic because of all the catch phrases it threw out there. Some episodes were hysterical. Some left a lot to be desired.

If you know Jews from New York, you'll like it. It's funny to see once. Friends, Frasier, Scrubs & other are better.

I never saw an episode until they showed reruns on our local FOX station. It's funny but I don't think it was the funniest ever, Jerry Seinfeld can't act and if it wasn't for his back ups then it would have sucked.
