when i drop into second gear from first there is just no power there, I drive bmw 3 series, For a 2 litre it doesn't seem to have alot of power.. my wife's metro had a simuler problem and it just needed a new dizzy cap and tuning could this be the problem?? i'd appreciate any answers or possible solutions thanks in advance

What makes you think it's losing compression? Has it always been this way, or did it just start recently? Sounds like a fuel-delivery or ignition problem to me.

Take it to a shop and have a compression test ran on the engine. It may be that it only needs a tune-up, or it could be something more serious. good luck.

There seems to be a leak from the T joint at the idle valve.
get all vaccum hoses checked.
if there is no leaks,then get your air flow control has problems.check the tunning at proper garage or just drive to bavaria auto to have a check up.

I'd start with the basics, try replacing the air and fuel filters first. Both should be relatively cheap and easy to replace.
