YES , special bays for 4x4s but treble the parking price, because the government are to trying to encourage going green, and if your ego needs to be boosted by such monstrosities then they must pay for the privilege, I also advocate increasing road tax to £700 most are rich anyway so why shouldn't they pay more, they use more road .This would cut down the poser element who cant really afford to run them anyway.

Hell no!!

I own (for the UK) a large saloon car - nothing fancy like a Jag or RangeRover and yet it barely fits (usually overhangs) the bays in most car parks. THIS IS JUST GREED on the part of the car park owners to fit more cars in. I have only 6" (15cm) space either side of the car.

C'mon, it's illegal to charge incredibly FAT people more to fly on an airline although they may weigh three times as much as an 'average' person...so why propose a charge for a larger vehicle - that's disciminatory!

As for BIG cars not being environmentaly friendly - I 've just had my 3.0 V6 car MOT'd and the emmisions are FAR less than a 1.0 Fiesta I'd owned - and I mean like 10 times less!!
It is an utter falicy that BIG engines produce more pollution. That eco-rust bucket of a 2CV or a VW campervan dumps incredible amounts of toxic waste into the atmosphere yet the tree hugging fools can't see the FACTS.

No. there's no additional costs related to car size. Example: say I own a parking lot with 100 stalls. It doesn't cost me more (in operational expenses) to have 100 Expeditions park there than it would to have the same number of Minis parked there. My concern would be keeping 100 stalls full, not what kind of vehicle is in those stalls.

No, not unless you have to have special bays for bigger cars.

However, I do believe that those idiots that park across two or three parking bays should be charged for each of the bays that they block up. It is so infuriating when you can't get parked because of someone else's inconsideracy!

They shouldn't. There is no correlation between vehicle size and space taken when parking. The bays are fixed size.

No. It would cause too much confusion and arguing, while people are either waiting in line to get in or leave. The exception is for extremely large vehicles like buses, RV's or cars with trailers.

It was an appeal for charging a limousine with penalty because it took 2 spots instead of one (1 paid). Owner of the limousine won. I am not sure about lorry
