Yesterday was the 30 day anniverssary that I had gotten robbed at a bus stop waiting for a cab here in Houston because my job let me out so late. I'm trying to find out if they have a right to keep me there against my will when I informed them that I need to please be let out at a decent hour to catch my buses to go home. also I am trying to find out if my manager had a right to tell me, "What you have felt better if the other emplyee stayed and you went home and they had gotten robbed?". What repreccussions can I take against that? Another thing, around 90-95% of the employees that work for the company ride the bus, and I heard that same manager say that she doesn't care who rides the bus because they need to stay, it is their job because she is trired of hearing how people have to catch there bus because they are going to miss it. I am one employee that rides the bus and I am not ashamed to say it, but does she have a right to say that to employees?

sorry unless you had a pre hire agreement that you had to catch the (whatever)bus you are out of luck!
I agree with your employer, transport to and from work is YOUR problem, not your bosses. If you feel it is unsafe to leave late, call a cab, or find a job in an area that is safer, or get a PER EMPLOYMENT agreement that states you can work NO overtime...sorry you were robbed, has happened to me as well

You can always leave when you want but will probably not have a job the next day. It is your responsiblity to get to work not the employers. While she might have been rude to say that it is not illegal. I know at my work place when people have to leave to catch their bus it means I have to work longer because I drive myself. So is it fair to me that you leave to catch a bus and I stay and do the work?

She's rude! If you can do , look for a new job! Why put up with your boss? She is unhappy and taking it out on employees.

Please look for another job, or, ask your boss to send you home in a taxi. If you can afford to pay for a taxi home, do so.
